The Guild’s library is a valuable resource for weavers and spinners of all levels. Stocked with over 900 recent and historical books, journals, magazines, and DVDs about textile arts, fibre, history, weaving, spinning, dyeing, and knitting, the library has a vast array of inspirational and instructive resources.
Members of the Guild are encouraged to visit the library and make use of its resources, as per these borrowing rules. Members may borrow items by:
- visiting the library,
- requesting an item be brought to a WeaveSpinDye (WSD) monthly meeting by emailing librarycommittee@gvwsg.com, or
- by mail, following these mail borrowing procedures.
Library Location and Access
The library is located in unit #408 on the 4th floor of the Sun Wah Centre at 268 Keefer Street. The building can be accessed via the front door on Keefer Street. If at any time the front door is not open, access can be gained by calling building security at 778-232-3593. If arriving by car, the library can be accessed from the building parkade by taking an elevator down to the 4th floor. Upon exiting the elevator proceed forward. To the left is a door to the corridor leading to unit #408.
Library Open Hours
The library is open from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm; on the first and third Sunday, the second Wednesday, and third Thursday of every month. Open days are published in the Guild’s newsletter and on the Events Calendar published on the website, for easy reference. If you are unable to visit the library during open times, you can set up an appointment with the Guild
librarian by emailing librarian@gvwsg.com.
